With single-turn rotary encoders, the coded output signals are repeated with each new revolution of the shaft. No data is provided on whether the rotary encoder has completed one or 1,000 revolutions. With every revolution, multi-turn absolute rotary encoders generate an unmistakable output signal for every shaft position, up to 4096 revolutions.
